Home Sick

Adisyn came down with bronchitis, an ear infection and pink eye and therefore had to stay home from school pretty much all week. The social butterfly that she is, she was really upset when on day three of being sick she realized she still wasn't going to school. Poor thing. She hung out with Holden and I and we had some fun watching movies and playing games and made sure she got plenty of rest.
Here's our sick sleeping beauty taking a nice nap.

Sister reading Strawberry Shortcake to brother.

Check out her nice outfit (Kimberly, it's only the beginning for Rilyn)! And this was right before heading out the door to run errands.

Here's our bub catching some zzzzzz's very early in the morning in mommy and daddy's bed. I thought it was pretty darn cute so I had to capture it on camera.

8 Week Update

Our poor little guy is still suffering from reflux. The Dr. put him on Donnatal to try to relax him and treat him for colic. It helped maybe a little, but his reflux seems to be getting worse. He spits up a lot, even an hour after eating. He wakes himself up by choking on his spit up. He now rubs his little nose on me because it's bothering him (I think it burns too because his spit up comes out his nose sometimes) and he still arches and cries in pain after eating and while being burped. I called the Dr. today to give them an update and he wants to take Holden off of the Donnatal and try Zantac for the reflux. I also need to nurse him in an elevated position and keep him upright for about 30 minutes after eating. Plus I need to put him down to sleep in an elevated position. Cutting out all of the food from my diet didn't seem to help at all so I have added most of it back (man did I miss my decaf latte)! However, I have a call into the lactataion consultant to discuss some more natural remedies for reflux so that I may not need to use the Zantac. I just don't want to use drugs if I don't have to.

The good thing is that Holden is not upset all day long. He does have happy times and those are becoming more and more frequent! He is talking more and more and gives us big smiles. One of his favorite places to be is his changing table. He loves looking up at this little musical toy that we named 'Dragon'. He talks to it and coos...oh I just love listening to him. It's the highlight of my days.

Here he is on his changing table looking up and talking to Dragon...his favorite thing.

Holden Has A Girlfriend

That's right, Holden already has a little girlfriend! Lauren is our neighbor's 5 month old daughter. Holden and Lauren love to look at each other and touch each other. They stare and smile and coo. It is the cutest thing ever.

Neighborhood Fun

On Saturday Kendal came over to play with Adisyn. We headed outside late in the afternoon to take advantage of the weather before the rain came again so the girls could get some exercise. We love our neighborhood (or at least some of our neighbors that live next to us in the cul-de-sac)! The three families that we hang out with are our age and all have young children, which is perfect for Adi. The funny thing though, is that Adi is only one of two girls in the group and the other girl is only 5 months old! There are five little boys, Holden and another little boy on the way! Adi doesn't mind at all - she still has a ton of fun.

Here are our next door neighbors, Jill, Sean and new baby Lauren (5 months). Their son Jacob is two years old and off playing with the kids.
Here are some of the neighborhood kids from L to R...Kendal (visiting Adi), Brock, Adi, Braden, and Steven. Just missing Jacob and Zachary.

Weeknight Fun

I would say this is a typical weeknight, but nothing is typical with Holden just yet. He is just now starting to love his bouncy seat! He kicks and smiles and coos at the moving monkey. It's just adorable. I can now put him in it and move it into the kitchen while I cook dinner or empty the dishwasher, or take it to the bedroom so I can get ready for the day. It only last about 10 to 20 minutes, but I'll take it! While Holden was bouncing away, daddy and Adi were working on homework. Lots of cutting, coloring and pasting and lots of practice with letters and numbers. Daddy especially likes the coloring part.
And after homework, it's time for fun again....here's Super Girl! Nice saggy pants!

Yee Haw

What else is there to do on a rainy day but play dress-up with the baby? When I changed Holden into his third outfit for the day (due to blowout leaks) I decided to have a little fun and dressed him in his cowboy outfit. We thought he looked so stinkin' cute we just had to share...

Rainy Day

Wednesday was a rainy day so Adi and I had some fun in the house. One of Kimberly's blog posts reminded me that my brothers and I used to make forts when we were younger. We had so much fun making them and playing in them. So, I made a fort for Adi - her first ever - and she loved it. She thought it was the greatest thing ever. She played in it for hours. Meanwhile, Lance had the day off so he was home with us for the day - it was really nice.

6 Weeks

Today Holden had his 6 week Dr. appointment (even though he will be 7 weeks on Wednesday). He is in the 97th percentile for both height and weight, weighing in at 13lbs 8oz and measuring 24 inches long. The Dr. said he is definitely getting enough food because most babies gain about 2 pounds in a month and he gained 4. It was an important appointment for me because I want to get to the bottom of his fussiness. The little guy hardly gets much sleep because he wakes himself up in what seems to be pain. He gags and coughs on his spit up an hour or more after eating, arches his back during feedings and burping among other things. I took in a list of his symptoms and it seems he might either have acid reflux or is lactose intolerant. I now have to cut out dairy for at least three days on top of the caffeine, chocolate, soy, nuts, strawberries, beans and brocolli that I have already eliminated from my diet! What's left to eat? I also have to give him Mylicon and now adult Mylanta at every feeding and then keep him slightly upright for at least a half hour after eating. If he is doing better in three days then I can add the dairy back. If he's not better then he might have to take Zantac for his heartburn. I just don't want our little man to be hurting anymore and I can't wait to get to the bottom of it so that he will hopefully feel better soon - and maybe sleep more so mommy can sleep more!

Roseville Trip

On Saturday we packed up the kids and dogs and headed down to Roseville to spend the night with Erich and Megan. We wanted to take Adi down there so her and Evan could play because they had been missing each other. Sunday morning Lance, dad and Erich went to play golf and the girls hung out with the kids (well, Megan went for a 9 mile run!). Then we headed over to John's Incredible Pizza Co. and planned to meet the guys there when golf was over. The pizza place was pretty cool with different rooms to eat in and a roller coaster, bumper cars, and some other rides. Adi and Evan had a blast. The rest of us had a good time knowing the kids were having fun, but wow was it crowded and loud in there! Holden and I ended up in the car so he could eat and chill in some peace and quiet. It was a fun trip!

Rolling Over

Well, if it isn't one thing, it's another. Out little man now has a cold that he probably caught from his sister. He's all stuffy in the nose and phlemy in his throat, has a little cough and has been sneezing quite a bit. The only good thing about it is that he's actualy been sleeping more than ever before, and he's less fussy than before, which is weird. He has been asleep most of the day except to nurse twice. I hope that doesn't mean he will be up all night tonight...my fingers are crossed. He did have a little bit of play time this afternoon after filling his tummy and I captured him rolling over on camera.

Welcome Little One

On December 24, 2008 we were blessed with our beautiful and healthy baby boy, Holden James. He was born at 2:38 in the afternoon, weighing a whopping 9lbs 3oz and was 21.5 inches long! He did quite a number on mommy, but once he was in my arms I didn't care anymore. We spent two nights in the hospital including Christmas, but it was the best Christmas ever!

The past 5 and a half weeks have been both amazing and very, very tiring. Holden is a bit fussy at times as he is quite gassy and doesn't like to poop. He eats about every 2 hours or so, but the other night he actually slept for 4 hours! Lance and I love to look at him and talk to him and watch his adorable little expressions. He gave us his first social smile just over a week ago and is beginning to coo, which is so cute! Holden is going to keep us very busy as he is a talker (talks all day and night, even while sleeping) and a wiggle worm. He rolled over for the first time at 5 weeks! I hope that doesn't mean he'll be crawling at 3 months - I'm not ready for that. Oh, and he's getting so big. Lance and I weighed him the other day and he is already about 13lbs and he's wearing size 3-6 months!
Adi is doing well with it for the most part. She loves her brother very much, but she has been the only child for five years, so there is definitely some jealousy. She is attached to us at the hip lately and wants to play games with us and sing to us more now than ever before. She doesn't fully understand why I am always with the baby and not her and therfore she's a little angry with me. But she is adapting and doing a great job with it all.

We are so blessed and so happy, and yes, really tired. Now that I'm starting to get things into a routine (yeah right) I will try to post more frequently.
